Hi. My name is Chris Kresser. I practitice integrative medicine and acupuncture in the San Francisco Bay area. I'm also the author of The Healthy Skeptic blog. A few years ago my wife and I (that’s us in the picture) decided to start our family. But – as some of you may understand all too well – it wasn't as easy as we'd hoped. After months of trying, we still were not pregnant.
Elanne was over 35 by then, and she'd been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. Most doctors probably would have told us not to even try, or at least told us to skip right to IVF or other assisted infertility treatments.

Finally, in October of 2010, the magic happened: Elanne and I conceived! We were overjoyed to say the least. All of the research I had done also gave us the knowledge and confidence we needed all through Elanne’s pregnancy. In July 2011 we welcomed a healthy 8lb 2oz baby girl into our lives.
